Envisioned as a platform for young artists graduating from art institutes across India, Navsar emerged in 2003, showcasing the works of nine young students from the College of Art, New Delhi. The show was much appreciated, and has become an event looked forward to every year by lovers of art.
Navsar has grown since, and now also encompasses exhibitions of international standards, educational programs, and art consultation.
We promote and support artists of various visual art mediums. We also work with folk artists, and are keen to take traditional Indian arts into a new sphere of creativity where their different facets can be appreciated by discerning viewers. Navsar will link its exhibitions with organizations that promotes sustainable as well as conscious creative endeavors, thus making art with a purpose the foundation of Navsar’s future.
The people behind Navsar are the siblings Amit Kumar Jain and Ambika Jain. Amit conceptualized Navsar while he was a graduate student at the College of Art, New Delhi. The first Navsar show was held at the India Habitat Center, New Delhi, and he curated as well as participated in it. He now has many more shows to his credit, and has lectured about art in many universities. At present, he works at an internationally acclaimed museum of contemporary art. Ambika worked as a senior buyer for a lifestyle luxury store in New York. After 7 years in the profession she moved back to India in 2006, and is involved with various projects related to art and textiles.
